Northern Ireland Screen celebrates Diversity Mark accreditation

Diversity Mark is delighted to congratulate Northern Ireland Screen on achieving the Diversity Mark Accreditation, recognising its strong and ongoing commitment to advancing equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) across its organisation and the wider screen industry in Northern Ireland.

The Diversity Mark Accreditation is awarded following a robust independent assessment process and recognises organisations that can demonstrate measurable progress in embedding EDI within their culture, policies and practices. Northern Ireland Screen’s submission highlighted meaningful action across inclusion in training, recruitment and sector development, helping to ensure the screen industry reflects the diversity of the communities it serves.

Sir David Sterling, Chair of Northern Ireland Screen, commented:

“We are very pleased to have achieved the Diversity Mark Accreditation. It is an important acknowledgment of the work our team has undertaken to ensure that diversity, equity and inclusion are central to how we operate as an organisation and how we support the wider screen sector.

Northern Ireland has a strong reputation for storytelling, powered by a wide range of voices, experiences and perspectives. This accreditation reinforces our commitment to supporting the continued growth of an industry that creates space for new voices from all backgrounds.”

As the lead local agency for the development of the screen industries, Northern Ireland Screen continues to take proactive steps to embed inclusive practice, fostering an environment where talent can thrive and where opportunities are accessible across film, television and animation.

Christine White, Director of Diversity Mark, said:

“We are delighted to award Northern Ireland Screen the Diversity Mark Accreditation. This recognition reflects the organisation’s genuine commitment to embedding equity, diversity and inclusion across its operations, and its leadership in shaping a more representative and inclusive screen sector. We look forward to supporting Northern Ireland Screen as they continue to build on this strong foundation.”

Northern Ireland Screen will build on this achievement through the publication of an updated Diversity and Inclusion Action Plan, setting out clear objectives to strengthen representation, enhance training and development opportunities, and expand outreach to under-represented communities.

This accreditation marks an important milestone in Northern Ireland Screen’s ongoing work to support a more inclusive, innovative and sustainable screen industry. A massive congratulations to Northern Ireland Screen on this wonderful achievement.
