Ulster GAA celebrate being Awarded the Diversity Mark

Ulster GAA has been officially awarded the Diversity Mark accreditation, recognising its ongoing commitment to diversity, equality and inclusion across the organisation.

The Diversity Mark is awarded to organisations following an independent assessment process, which benchmarks best practice in advancing diversity and inclusion.

The accreditation is a significant milestone for Ulster GAA, and is reflective of the GAA manifesto of “Where We All Belong” which promotes an inclusive and welcoming environment in Gaelic games by focusing on bringing everyone into the organisation.

Ulster GAA has set three targets in particular in this area:

  • Develop and implement an Equality/Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Strategy
  • Create an Ulster GAA women’s network
  • Develop and implement an education and training programme on gender issues

Commenting on the achievement, Brian McAvoy, Ulster GAA CEO/Provincial Secretary, said:

“Ulster GAA is proud to receive the Diversity Mark accreditation, which is a clear endorsement of our ongoing progress and commitment to diversity and inclusion as an organisation.

“This is an important step, and we are looking forward to working with the Diversity Mark framework to enhance our own policies going forward.”

Christine White, Director of Diversity Mark, commented:

“Congratulations to Ulster GAA on being awarded the Diversity Mark accreditation. This achievement highlights the organisation’s strong commitment to placing equality and inclusion at the heart of its work.

“By embedding the mission of ‘Where we all belong’ into a clear EDI strategy, alongside initiatives such as a women’s network and dedicated training, Ulster GAA is creating a more inclusive culture and setting a powerful example for sport and wider society.”
