Signatory Roundtable Event – Gender Balance at Senior Level

Thank you to everyone that joined us today at our virtual Roundtable for Diversity Mark signatory organisations.  This event gave attendees the opportunity to connect with peers from other organisations and sectors, and share share ideas, challenges and good practice around achieving gender balance at senior level.

We have summarised some of the key messages from today’s event in how we can strive for Gender Diversity at senior level:

  • We discussed the importance of talent mapping and succession planning by identifying ‘the stars’ within organisations at an early stage and helping them develop and progress to get them ready to participate at senior level (when the time comes) with any potential barriers identified and removed to ensure retention of this top, diverse talent.
  • We also explored the vast benefits of a positive company culture around work/life balance and how senior leaders can be role models by setting standards and leading by example. 
  • We talked about positive use of role models (for example women in STEM going back to their school to share their journey) and how they can inspire the next generation to enter the sector/organisation. 

We recommend reviewing 30 Percent Club – Barriers to Gender Balance within our Resource Centre as it highlights many of the conversations and initiatives discussed at today’s session. Please also refer to our Diversity Buddies as they are all passionate about helping/working with other Diversity Mark signatory organisations on this journey.
