Our keynote speaker Lord Davies spearheaded ‘The Davies Review’, a government backed commission, first introduced in 2010 to examine the underrepresentation of women on boards. At that time he was Minister of State for Trade, Investment and Small Business.
The Davies Review presented practical, business-led recommendations to address the gender imbalance on the boards of FTSE 350 companies. It offered a voluntary, inclusive approach with actions for all stakeholders. It helped ensure boards benefitted from a balance of different perspectives and that recruitment practices are based on skill, experience and performance, allowing women to play a full role at the top of British business.
Carried out in 2015, the Davies Report gave a summary of the voluntary, business led, approach to increase representation of women on FTSE 100 boards. The report also set out Lord Davies’s next step recommendations for further work in this area.
