Join Our Panel of Diversity Mark Independent Assessors – Drive Change Across the UK and Ireland

Having built a strong and successful presence in Northern Ireland, where 1 in 4 employees work for an employer committed to the Diversity Mark accreditation journey, we are now excited to expand our reach.

We are actively seeking individuals from the Republic of Ireland, as well as from England, Scotland and Wales, to join our panel of Diversity Mark Independent Assessors. This expansion marks a natural progression as we grow and extend our impact beyond Northern Ireland.

The Diversity Mark Accreditation is awarded to companies following a rigorous independent assessment process that ensures they have reached the required standard of commitment to Equality, Diversity & Inclusion.

As a Diversity Mark Independent Assessor, you will demonstrate a strong commitment to building diverse and inclusive workplaces and communities.

Overview of the Role

Our Independent Assessors play a critical role in maintaining the high standards of the Diversity Mark accreditation process. The panel of sector experts are passionate about building a more equal and diverse workforce, society, and economy. They have extensive experience in advising on, or designing, embedding, and managing ED&I (equality, diversity and inclusion) strategies and initiatives.

We currently have a panel of 17 experienced Assessors who bring valuable expertise and insight to the accreditation process. The primary responsibility of a Diversity Mark Independent Assessor is to assess, alongside the wider panel, applications for Accreditation, Silver Accreditation, or Gold Accreditations.

Our accredited companies are seeing real, measurable change in workplace culture, employee engagement, and business performance. To further enhance the assessment experience, we have recently launched a new Digital Platform that streamlines the accreditation process and provides a more efficient, user-friendly interface for both assessors and applicants.

Role Requirements

We are looking for individuals with:
✔️ Proven experience in driving and/or advising on the implementation of an ED&I strategy within organisations or community groups
✔️ Experience in leading transformation within the ED&I space and a track record of delivering measurable business results linked to ED&I initiatives

✔️ Alternatively we would welcome individuals with relevant research experience within academia, particularly in areas related to equality, diversity and inclusion, with a demonstrated ability to translate academic insights into practical, real-world applications within the workplace.

Person Specification

✅ Strong analytical skills and a personal interest in data and evidence-based decision-making

✅ Deep understanding of the connection between an organisation’s high-level ED&I strategic vision and the practical delivery measures needed to achieve it
✅ A progressive mindset with the ability to analyse complex data confidently and make impartial, and well informed decisions
✅ A drive to improve – always asking, “What does even better look like?” and “How can this assessment feedback best support the organisation?”

✅ Ability to engage with other Assessors in constructive conversations around sensitive ED&I topics with respect and professionalism

✅ Commitment to staying current with trends and developments in ED&I

Commitment

  • Quarterly assessment panel of approximately 4 hours each time
  • Around 6 hours of preparation in the 3 weeks leading up to the quarterly assessment panel
  • Occasional representation of Diversity Mark at events or engagements
  • Commitment to attend an annual CPD day for Assessors
  • New assessors will be paired with an experienced assessor for the first year to provide guidance and support

Although the quarterly assessment is conducted in person, there is flexibility for virtual attendance. We also understand that not everyone will be available to attend every assessment.

Stipend

We offer a contribution of up to £1,200 (or €1,400) per year, equivalent to £300 (or €350) per assessment attended.

To apply, please email a copy of your CV along with a cover letter highlighting your suitability for this role to christine@diversity-mark-ni.co.uk by Friday 9th May 2025 at 5pm.

We welcome applications from candidates of all backgrounds, identities, and perspectives. Our goal is to ensure that our panel reflects the diversity of the organisations we assess, promoting fairness, equality, and inclusion in every aspect of our work.
