Driving Diversity in a Covid-19 World – ‘Allstate’s journey to Silver’ Webinar

Thank you to everyone that joined us today at our second in a series of ‘Driving Diversity in a COVID-19 World’ events.  Today’s webinar was presented by Lesley Miller, Sorcha Diver, Susan Walker and Maeve McAllister from Allstate NI and they authentically shared their ‘Path to Silver’ having recently been the first company to be awarded the Silver Diversity Mark.

Allstate have been on their journey with Diversity Mark NI for three years and have developed some very innovative diversity initiatives to build a diverse and inclusive workplace culture. Diversity and Inclusion is part of their core operating model because they have found that it increases innovation, engages and builds trust with their workforce, assists in retaining and attracting diverse talent and adds value to the bottom line. 

Diversity and Inclusion is visibly championed at Allstate NI by Vice President & Managing Director John Healy, OBE and Vice President, Deputy Chief Information Security Officer Keith Lippert with diverse working groups and Employee Resource Groups with passionate and enthusiastic people helping to drive lasting change.  They continually monitor and track their progress with centralised data to enable meaningful comparisons over time with continuity of data to assist them on their journey.

Allstate NI want to achieve Gender Balance at all levels and they started out their Diversity journey focussing on Gender Diversity. After analysing their data, carrying out internal audits they set themselves targets with initiatives around attracting more female graduates, building a pipeline of female leaders for the future and launching a mentoring scheme. Three years on they have made great progress since joining Diversity Mark NI and have set themselves new challenging targets to keep driving Gender Diversity with numerous education outreach programmes and new targets around LGBTQ+ Inclusion and Age Diversity.
